Pengertian dan Contoh Kalimat Extraposition Lengkap – Extraposistion merupakan sebuah konstruksi atau susunan kalimat dimana sebuah klausa berperan sebagai subjek yang dipindahkan ke akhir kalimat atau digantikan dengan “it” ke posisi awal.
Ada kecenderungan untuk tidak menggunakan elemen yang berat di awal kalimat, tetapi mereka lebih menyukai meletakkan klausa yang berat di akhir kalimat. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh dasar struktur kalimat bahasa Inggris yaitu Subject-Verb-Object, dimana object nya lebih panjang daripada object.
Penyusunan ulang dalam extraposition memiliki efek membuat orang lain berpikir lagi tentang apa yang dikatakan sehingga makna nya lengkap.
Contoh:
That coffee grows in Brazil is well known to all.
Subjek pada kalimat di atas terbilang cukup panjang. Kalimat tersebut sempurna secara grammar, namun akan terdengar lebih natural apabila kalimat tersebut disusun dengan extraposition sehingga menjadi lebih singkat, seperti di bawah ini:
It is well known that coffee grows in Brazil.
Dalam kasus tertentu, extraposition dari kalimat yang dimodifikasi dilarang. Dalam kasus lain, kalimat dengan kata kerja tertentu, seperti appear, happen, dan seem, extraposition adalah wajib.

6. That Hari knew about my secret make me surprised.
It makes me surprised that Hari knew about my secret.
7. What they do in the office is procedural.
It is procedural what they do in the office.
8. To monitor the children activity is important.
It is important to monitor the children activity.
9. That she is so tired today
It seems that she is so tired today.
10. That my faamily will visit me in Bandung seems to be.
It appears that my family will visit me in Bandung.
11. That people should obey the government’s rules is a must.

12. That the teacher makes the classroom fun is great.

13. That I don’t understand their language makes me dizzy.
